UN: 1,300 Shelters for Displaced People Damaged by Floods in Yemen’s Saada

The United Nations has announced the death of two people and the damage of 1,300 shelters for displaced people due to floods that swept through Saada Governorate, the stronghold of the Houthis in northern Yemen. This was stated in a report issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which was published on the X platform. According to the UN commission, “Saada city witnessed heavy rains and thunderstorms on Tuesday, causing severe damage to temporary shelters and the property of families in many areas and displacement sites.” The report indicated that “these floods resulted in two deaths, one of them a child and the other an elderly man.”

The UN commission explained that it is “working with its partners to assess the urgent needs of those affected by these floods.” On Tuesday, the floods caused significant damage to citizens’ property, including homes, farms, and facilities.
