Watch: Houthi Bomb-Laden Boat Explodes Near Ukrainian Container Ship

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom

A Ukrainian container ship crew successfully disabled a Houthi bomb-laden boat on Tuesday after opening fire on it, causing it to explode.

Western media reports indicate that when the unmanned Houthi vessel steadily approached the Liberian-flagged container ship, the ship’s security team fired around twenty rounds from their Steyr rifles in approximately 14 seconds.

A video clip released from the confrontation shows the drone boat exploding after the last of those shots.

The incident, which took place on July 20 in the Red Sea, serves as a prime example of how to defeat such threats, according to a maritime security expert.

“They were well-trained and followed the correct standard operating procedures,” the expert told The War Zone, adding, “They were a well-equipped and armed security team.”
