The United Nations calls on the Houthis to immediately and unconditionally release all its staff

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom

The United Nations reiterated its call on Monday for the Houthi armed group to immediately release its detained staff.

This came in a briefing to the UN Security Council, presented by Rosemary DiCarlo, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.

She expressed deep concern about the well-being of Yemeni UN staff, national and international NGOs, diplomatic missions and civil society, who are being arbitrarily detained by the armed group.

She urged the Houthis to immediately and unconditionally release them all. She requested that they must be treated with full respect for human rights and allowed to be in contact with their families and legal representatives
