The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has condemned the assault on cartoonist Hilal Al-Murqab on Saturday evening by security personnel affiliated with facilities in Ma’rib Governorate. The assault is believed to be linked to Al-Murqab’s participation in a public event.
In a statement, the syndicate said, “We have received a report from cartoonist Hilal Al-Murqab stating that he was assaulted on Saturday evening by security guards affiliated with facilities in Ma’rib following his participation in a public event.”
According to Al-Murqab, “The soldiers attempted to assault him again after the event, but he managed to escape. These elements are still pursuing him.”
In conclusion, the syndicate called on the security authorities in Ma’rib to investigate the incident, punish the perpetrators, provide protection for cartoonist Hilal Al-Murqab, and restore his reputation
