The Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that the Israeli attacks on the Hodeidah governorate “escalate the current tensions” in the region and undermine ongoing efforts to end the war on Gaza Strip.
In a statement published by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Saudi Foreign Ministry called on all parties to “exercise maximum restraint and keep the region and its people away from the dangers of war, and that the international community and influential and active parties should assume their roles and responsibilities to end the conflicts in the region.”
The ministry affirmed “the continuation of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to end the war on Gaza, and its continued support for peace efforts in Yemen to spare its brotherly people further suffering and achieve security and peace in the region.”
Earlier, the Saudi Ministry of Defense responded to accusations that it was colluding with the attacks launched by the Israeli occupation on the city of Hodeidah on Saturday evening.
The spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Turki al-Malki, said: “The Kingdom has no relation or participation in targeting Hodeidah, and it will not allow its airspace to be violated by any party.”
On Saturday, the occupation launched airstrikes targeting the port of Hodeidah and its fuel tanks, as well as the power plant, killing 3 people and injuring 87 others with various burns, according to the Houthi Health Ministry, which is not internationally recognized.
The Israeli response came a day after the Houthis claimed responsibility for the deadly explosion in Tel Aviv, in a central area that includes a number of diplomatic missions, including a branch of the US embassy.
