Yemen Monitor/Newsroom

The United Nations Secretary-General has expressed deep concern over reports of airstrikes earlier today in and around the port of Hodeidah, Yemen.

Israel has claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating that they were in retaliation for previous Houthi attacks on Israel.

Initial reports indicate that the attack has resulted in a number of casualties and over 80 injured, as well as significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson’s office, the Secretary-General called on all parties involved to avoid attacks that could harm civilians and damage civilian infrastructure.

The Secretary-General said he remains deeply concerned about the risk of further escalation in the region and urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint.
