Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority announced today, Saturday, that there were no Singaporeans aboard the cargo ship “Lobiviya” which was attacked by a missile fired by the Houthi group in the Gulf of Aden yesterday.

The authority stated that the attack on the cargo ship, which was flying the Singaporean flag, caused a fire that was immediately extinguished without causing significant damage, according to the Singaporean newspaper “The Straits Times”.

The authority added that all crew members were safe and that the ship had sailed to the port of Berbera in Somalia to assess the damage and determine the necessary repairs.

This statement comes after the British maritime security firm, AMBRY, announced that a cargo ship flying the Singaporean flag was damaged after being hit by two missiles fired by the Yemeni Houthi group in the Gulf of Aden.

The company stated that the port side of the cargo ship “Lobiviya” was hit by two missiles in separate incidents 83 nautical miles southeast of the Yemeni city of Aden. The extent of the damage to the ship has not yet been determined, adding that the ship was seaworthy and all crew members were safe, but the ship would return to the last port of call.
