The Houthi armed group claimed responsibility on Friday for an attack on a Singapore-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden. The attack, which involved ballistic missiles and drones, caused no reported casualties or significant damage. This latest incident is part of a series of attacks targeting vessels that the Houthis allege have ties to Israel.
A military spokesperson confirmed that a “military operation” had been carried out in the Gulf of Aden, targeting “Lobivia” ship with multiple ballistic missiles and drones. The spokesperson asserted that the attack was successful.
Earlier, the maritime intelligence firm, AMBRY, had reported the incident. The agency stated that a Singapore-flagged ship was hit by shells about 80 nautical miles (148 kilometers) southeast of the Yemeni coastal city of Aden, with no reports of casualties in the attack, which is similar to operations usually carried out by the Houthis in the region.
