Yemen Airways, represented by its Chairman of the Board, Nasser Mahmoud, signed an agreement today, Wednesday, in Dubai, with Airbus representatives to purchase 8 new Airbus aircraft, 4 of the A320 neo model, and 4 of the A321 neo model.
According to the official Yemeni News Agency, the agreement stipulates that Yemen Airways will begin making financial payments starting in 2028, and the delivery of the 8 aircraft is scheduled to begin in 2031 and continue until 2034, at a rate of two aircraft per year.
The signing of this agreement, which is the largest in the history of Yemenia, the national carrier, over the past decades, comes within the company’s plans and directions to modernize and enhance its fleet of aircraft, and expand its flight destinations to a number of Arab and international airports.
Earlier this month, the Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council announced that Kuwait had provided support in the form of three aircraft and two engines for Yemen Airways, following the crisis that erupted between the company and the Houthi group, after the latter detained four aircraft at Sana’a Airport.
