Houthis Threaten Saudi Arabia
Yemen Monitor/Sanaa/Exclusive:
The military spokesman for the Houthi armed group threatened Saudi Arabia on Friday with attacks in response to what he described as “hostile moves.”
This came in a televised statement by the spokesman about an operation that targeted a commercial ship in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait “in support of Gaza Strip.”
The statement indicated that the group and the areas under its control were subjected to what is described as “hostile moves” by Saudi Arabia.
He added that the armed group’s forces “to confirm their military readiness to implement the popular demands in a legitimate response to those moves.”
A statement by the group’s supporters during demonstrations in Sanaa and several governorates confirmed their support for the measures promised by the group’s leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, last week.
The statement said that “the consequences will be dire for the kingdom and all its vital and economic interests.”
The Houthi leader had threatened Saudi Arabia with military attacks, “bank for bank, Sanaa airport for Riyadh airport, and port for port,” in response to the measures of the Central Bank of Yemen, affiliated with the internationally recognized government, which is drying up the Houthis’ financial revenues.
