Taiz Military Axis (affiliated with the Yemeni legitimate army) said in a statement that “the Houthis have noticeably escalated their hostile acts this week on various fronts of  Taiz Axis.”

The statement indicated that the escalation focused on the fronts surrounding the city and the western countryside fronts of Maqbana Directorate west of the province, noting that nightly clashes with various types of weapons are taking place repeatedly on various fronts surrounding the city.

The recent escalation included “offensive operations, artillery shelling, targeting with various types of weapons, sniping, intensive flights of drones, in addition to mobilizing new forces and weapons to the fronts surrounding the city and the western countryside fronts of the province, and setting up camps and conducting training.”

According to the statement, the group intensified reconnaissance with drones over the fronts surrounding the city and the western countryside fronts of the province in Maqbana Directorate and Jabal-Habshi District, reaching Al-Kadhah area.

The group also intensified its field training for its new elements and conducted tactical drills with live ammunition in various areas east, north and west of the province.

The Houthi escalation comes in conjunction with the ongoing economic war between the Central Bank of Yemen in Aden on the one hand, and the Houthis and the banks under their control on the other hand, as well as in conjunction with consultations between the Houthis and the Yemeni government in Muscat to release prisoners and political detainees.
