“Yemeni Meteorological Center”: Rain in the mountainous highlands and intense heat in the desert and coastal areas

The Yemeni Meteorological Center forecast, on Saturday, varying intensity of rain in the mountainous highlands and intense heat in the desert areas.

The Meteorological Center indicated that the weather is expected to be partly cloudy, turning to cloudy with varying intensity of rain accompanied by thunder sometimes on parts of the provinces of “Al-Mahra, Hadramawt, Shabwah, Abyan, Al-Baydha, Lahij, Al-Dali’, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Rima and Sana’a”.

It also expected scattered rain over parts of the provinces of “Amran, Hajjah and Mahweet”, and areas of Tihama Plain in the afternoon and evening hours.

It pointed out to a partly cloudy and relatively dusty atmosphere, hot and humid, where the maximum temperatures range between “35 – 40 degrees Celsius”, and the wind speed is very strong on Socotra Archipelago, reaching a maximum speed of 45 knots, and moderate to strong speed on the eastern and southern coasts, raising dust and sand.

In the desert areas, the Meteorological Cemter expected a clear to partly cloudy atmosphere, very hot during the day, where the maximum temperatures range between (39 – 46 degrees Celsius) and the winds are moderate to active speed, raising dust.

The Meteorological center warned citizens in areas expected to receive rain against being present in the valleys, flood paths, and taking shelter from thunderstorms.

It also alerted motorists on mountain roads to the decrease in horizontal visibility due to rain and dense low clouds, and advises against crossing land bridges when floods flow.

The Meteorological center also warned seafarers, fishermen and ship captains against sea disturbances and high waves around Socotra Archipelago, the Gulf of Aden and the eastern and southern coasts, and alerted citizens in the deserts, plains and coasts against the hot and very hot weather, and advises against direct exposure to sunlight during the afternoon.
