Reuters: Tanker Sunk Off Yemen Coast Was Not Targeted by Houthis
Yemen Monitor/Sanaa/Reuters:
Three navy and security sources said an abandoned tanker that was drifting off the coast of Yemen in June has disappeared and is believed to have sunk, becoming the latest vessel to be lost in the strategically important Red Sea.
However, maritime security sources said last week that the abandoned tanker “Lavant” was unlikely to have been targeted by the Houthis. According to two sources, the tanker reported an engine failure and took on water.
Why is there no connection between the Houthis and sinking a ship off the coast of Nashtoon!?
Russian shipping group Sovcomflot said last week that one of its ships, in response to a distress call, rescued the crew off the coast of southern Yemen on June 23 after the sailors were evacuated in a lifeboat.
Yemen Monitor had previously published a report indicating that there were reports that the Houthis were not involved in the attack.
