The US military said on Sunday that it had destroyed three Houthi unmanned boats in the Red Sea over the past 24 hours in a “self-defense engagement.”

“It was determined that the unmanned boats posed an imminent threat to US and coalition forces and merchant vessels in the region,” US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on X platform.

Earlier, the Houthi group announced the addition of a new naval weapon to its Iranian-backed arsenal.

The group’s war media said that “Tofan Al-mudamer” boat was unveiled, which it said carries a warhead weighing about 1,000-1,500 kg, is equipped with advanced technology, with manual and remote control, has a speed of 45 knots, and operates in all maritime conditions.”

The group’s media showed footage of one of the ” Tofan Al-mudamer ” boat’s operations targeting the Transworld Navigator ship in the Red Sea last week.

Last June, the group announced 3 new weapons: the “Palestine” ballistic missile, the “Tofan 1” boat, and “Hatem 2” hypersonic ballistic missile, according to the group’s claims.
