Two Civilians Killed, Child Injured in Landmine Explosions in Western Yemen

Two civilians were killed on Saturday when a landmine planted by the Houthis exploded in Hodeidah province, western Yemen.
“A citizen named Shukri Hiba Badi and his wife Aisha Badi were killed in the explosion of a landmine from Houthi leftovers in Al-Duraihimi directorate south of the province,” Al-Hodeidah Human Rights Office said in a statement carried by the official Yemeni news agency Saba.
“The landmine exploded on a motorcycle that the couple was riding while they were on their way to their home in Al-Zafran area,” the statement added.
The UN mission inAl- Hodeidah had documented the killing and injuring of 9 civilians, including 4 children, in landmine explosions during the past May, bringing the number of victims since the beginning of the year to 29 killed and 23 injured.
In its report, it said that it recorded 7 incidents related to explosive ammunition in Al-Hali, Al-Huk, Al-Duraihimi, Beit Al-Faqi, Al-Tuhaita, and Al-Jarrahi directorates, which resulted in the killing of 7 civilians and the injury of two others.
Hodeidah continues to witness landmine explosions planted by the Houthi militia and war remnants, resulting in civilian casualties.
On the same day, a child was seriously injured in a Houthi landmine explosion in Hajjah province, northwestern Yemen.
The Yemeni Mine Observatory said that a child was seriously injured in the explosion of a landmine planted by the Houthi group in Haradh directorate, north of Hajjah province.
According to the observatory, the injured child is named “Ahmed Mohammed Yahya Haddadi”, 14 years old, and his left leg was amputated.
