“Central Bank of Yemen Suspends Licenses of Three Money Exchange Companies”

The Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) in Aden has issued a decision to suspend the licenses of a number of money exchange companies and close their branches “until further notice”.

On its social media accounts ,the bank published three separated decisions issued by the Governor of the Central Bank, Ahmed Al-Ma’baqi.

This comes a day after it issued a circular prohibiting dealing with 12 electronic wallets.

The decisions of the Central Bank of Yemen confirmed the suspension of the licenses of Al-Muri and Al-Mujrabi companies and their branches, as well as the suspension of the license of (Thamar) Exchange Establishment until further notice.

According to the decisions of the Governor Al-Ma’baqi, the aforementioned companies violated the bank’s decisions and instructions according to field inspection reports that submitted by the Bank Supervision Sector on 24-6-2024 which proven its violations.
