US Military Announces Details of Houthi Attack on Greek Ship Heading to Egypt

Yemen Monitor/News Room

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Sunday that a Greek-owned ship sailing to Egypt was damaged in an attack by Iran-backed Houthis.

A CENTCOM statement said the bulk carrier M/V Trans World Navigator was damaged in a “suspected drone attack” at 4 a.m. local time (0100 GMT). According to the command, this is the fourth time a Liberian-flagged ship has been attacked by the Houthis.

The statement added that the crew of the ship, which had recently been docked in Malaysia and was heading to Egypt, “reported minor injuries and moderate damage to the ship, but the ship continued its journey.”

“This continued harmful and reckless behavior by the Iran-backed Houthis threatens regional stability and endangers the lives of seafarers across the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden,” the statement added.
