A soldier in the Security Belt Forces affiliated with the STC was killed and others were injured in a bombing that targeted the vehicle they were riding east of Modyah Directorate in Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen.
Local sources reported today, Friday, that “an explosive device targeted the Security Belt leader Samir Mahlab in Modyah Directorate, leaving one person dead and two injured.”
They added that the officer Samir Mahlab was seriously injured and was taken to the directorate’s hospital for initial treatment before being transferred to Aden Governorate due to the seriousness of his injuries.
From time to time, forces from Abyan Security loyal to the Yemeni government, and others belonging to the STC, carry out a security campaign to pursue what they describe as “extremist groups and elements of al-Qaeda” north of the governorate.
