Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Sunday evening that the Houthi group had launched ballistic missiles towards the Gulf of Aden, causing damages to two ships in the past 24 hours.

In a statement via its CENTCOM platform, it added that one missile hit a Swiss-owned and operated container ship, causing damage but allowing it to continue sailing.

It stated that two other missiles launched by the Houthis towards the Gulf of Aden hit a German-owned cargo ship, causing material damage but allowing it to continue on its way.

On the other hand, the US military said it had shot down a drone over the Gulf of Aden and destroyed two cruise missiles and a missile launcher in the Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.

Earlier, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Sunday it had received a report of a commercial vessel being damaged in a missile attack 89 nautical miles southwest of Aden, Yemen.

The UKMTO added that the ship’s security officer reported no injuries on board as a result of the attack, adding that it was continuing its voyage to its next destination.

The UK maritime authority said authorities were continuing to monitor the situation and ships in the vicinity are advised to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
