Saudi newspaper Okaz reported today, Monday, that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), with its leadership and people, remains the closest and most trusted partner for Yemenis.
In its editorial titled “GCC and Support for Yemen,” the newspaper stated that the joint ministerial meeting of the foreign ministers of the GCC countries and the Republic of Yemen, held yesterday (Sunday) in the Qatari capital (Doha), comes to confirm the GCC countries’ determination to contribute to the advancement of the security and stability process for the brotherly Yemeni people, and the full support for the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, and the entities supporting it to achieve security and stability in Yemen, in addition to reviewing the latest developments witnessed by the Republic of Yemen, and the impact of Houthi operations in the Red Sea on regional and global economic conditions, in addition to international and United Nations efforts to contribute to the resolution of the Yemeni issue.
The newspaper added that the meeting also demonstrates the GCC’s support for all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the three references represented by the Gulf initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outputs of the National Dialogue Conference, and Security Council Resolution 2216 to achieve security and stability in Yemen.
It explained that the Yemeni people view the positions of the GCC countries and their support differently from any other international positions, considering the Council and its countries as a fundamental partner for Yemen and its people in security, safety, stability, economy, development, and prosperity. The Yemeni people rely heavily on the GCC in terms of supporting Yemen in its crisis and guiding it to safety, by overcoming all challenges that may hinder the awaited peace process, leading to the restoration of the capable state, with the help of the Council, to start the process of real construction that contributes to achieving the most important requirements of the Yemeni people, who have suffered as a result of the practices of the Houthis, which continues to practice its absurdity on Yemen’s capabilities and its people, close roads, and seize universities, schools, and hospitals.
The editorial concluded by saying: The Gulf Cooperation Council, with its leadership and people, remains the closest and most trusted partner for Yemenis. It is the one that will achieve the aspirations and hopes they have been waiting since the Houthis seized power in Sanaa, enabling them to control the fate of millions of the Yemeni people who live in the provinces that groan under the unjust Houthi rule, which has deprived them of all their rights and plunged them into the furnace of conflicts that have exhausted them, which will end with the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees every Yemeni their legitimate rights, like the peoples of the world.
