Yemen and Qatar Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Support Economic Empowerment and Address Unemployment

Yemeni Foreign Minister Shay’e Al-Zindani signed, on Sunday, in the Qatari capital Doha, with the Acting Director-General of the Qatar Development Fund, Sultan Al-Asseri, a memorandum of understanding to support economic empowerment and address unemployment among young people in Yemen.
The memorandum of understanding aims to support the projects called “Your Future” and “Support for Youth Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion”, which provide job opportunities for more than 98,385 young men and women through the Qatari Foundation “Silatek” in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, according to the official Yemeni News Agency.
The Yemeni Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the Qatari government’s support, praising Qatar’s development, humanitarian and relief interventions in various fields.
For his part, the Acting Director-General of the Qatar Development Fund explained that the signing of the memorandum of understanding will contribute to building the capacities of young Yemeni entrepreneurs in organizing their small projects and supporting young people in achieving sustainable development and eradicating poverty.
It is worth noting that the signing of the agreement came on the sidelines of the 160th Gulf Ministerial Meeting, which includes Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, in the Qatari capital Doha, in which Yemen and Turkey participated.
