Yemen Monitor/Newsroom

The Yemeni Journalists’ Union on Saturday expressed its deep concern over the deteriorating health condition of the union’s secretary-general and assistant secretary-general of the Arab Journalists’ Union, Mohammed Shabita.

The union indicated that Shabita’s condition has not stabilized despite a full month of treatment following an armed attack on him and a number of his family members in the middle of Sana’a.

The union said that the union’s council is monitoring the health condition of the secretary-general since the day of the attack and  no signs of improvement has been noticed in his health despite his long stay in intensive care.

The union council confirmed its readiness to transfer him outside Yemen, while calling on the Houthi group to facilitate his transfer immediately to complete his treatment, holding them responsible for his safety and any consequences that may arise as a result of the delay in expediting his transfer.
