The Yemeni government, on Tuesday, welcomed President Joe Biden’s initiative to stop the firing of rockets in Gaza, considering it a “chance” to end Israel’s war on the sector.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in a statement on “X”, said: “The Yemeni government appreciates the mediation efforts being made by Egypt, Qatar, and the US to ensure an agreement to stop the firing of rockets in Gaza, lift the blockade, and deliver humanitarian aid, and thus end the suffering of the sector’s residents.”

The statement added: “The Yemeni government welcomes President Joe Biden’s initiative to stop the firing of rockets in Gaza, considering it a chance to end Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian people.”

The ministry emphasized that the Yemeni government’s position remains firm in supporting the Palestinian people’s aspirations and their right to establish an independent state with East Quds as its capital, according to the Arab Peace Initiative and international legal resolutions, which is the only way to achieve security and peace in the region.

On Friday evening, Biden announced an ” Israeli proposal” consisting of three stages, including stopping the firing of rockets, exchanging prisoners, and rebuilding Gaza. However, there is a disagreement between Washington and Tel Aviv regarding the proposal, and it has not yet been clarified within the Israeli government.
