British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said today, Friday, that Britain carried out a number of strikes with the US yesterday, Thursday, against Houthi military targets, considering it “self-defense.”
Sunak added that the Royal Air Force strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen were “self-defense” due to the “continuous threat” posed by the Houthis.
This is the fifth time that Britain has carried out joint raids with the United States on targets in Yemen.
The British military announced that it carried out a “joint operation” with US forces on Thursday night, Friday, which included raids against Houthi positions in Yemen in order to “undermine their military capabilities.”
For its part, the US Central Command announced that “its forces, along with the British armed forces, carried out strikes against 13 targets in areas controlled by the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen in self-defense,” according to a statement.
In contrast, the Houthi group reported that the death toll from the US and British raids on Hodeidah governorate rose to 16 killed and 35 wounded.
