The “Red Wave 7” naval exercise concluded on Thursday at King Faisal Base in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the participation of forces from Red Sea littoral states, including Yemen.

The Yemeni Armed Forces Information Center stated that “the exercise was attended by branches of the Yemeni Navy, the Saudi Armed Forces, units of the Saudi Border Guard, forces from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Republic of Djibouti.”

The aim of the “Red Wave 7” exercise was to enhance the maritime security of the Red Sea littoral states and protect territorial waters by applying scenarios that simulate different combat environments. These scenarios were planned in three planning conferences, which were attended by officers from all participating countries and resulted in the formation of forces and a set of exercises.

During the 6-day exercise, the participating forces carried out a number of combat exercises, including surface and air warfare, electronic warfare, repelling fast boat attacks, protecting maritime navigation lines, combating smuggling, terrorism, piracy, and illegal immigration.

During the closing ceremony, the Yemeni Navy was honored with the exercise shield.

Brigadier General Yahya Al-Wael, the military attaché at the Yemeni embassy in Saudi Arabia, who was tasked with leading the naval forces participating in the exercise, explained that this exercise will contribute to developing bilateral cooperation and joint coordination between the Red Sea littoral states, which will contribute to enhancing maritime security, confronting common threats, and coordinating operational and informational efforts.
