An Israeli missile has struck Iran in response to the unprecedented missile and drone attack on Israel over the weekend by Tehran.
It seems an airfield outside of the city of Isfahan was targeted, but Iran has played down the incident .
Iran earlier said three drones were involved in the attack on Isfahan, and made no mention of any missiles or damage.
The Iranian foreign minister has said the apparent Israeli drone strike on the city of Isfahan caused no damage or casualties, according to Iranian media.
Hossein Amirabdollahian, who was speaking to envoys of Muslim nations in New York, said: “The Zionist regime’s media supporters, in a desperate effort, tried to make victory out of their defeat, while the downed mini-drones have not caused any damage or casualties,.”
According to a US official, Israeli fighter jets launched three missiles at an air defense radar site near the Iranian city of Isfahan in last night’s overnight strike.
He added: the radar site was part of the protection of Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility ,and the missiles were fired from outside Iran and the strike was “very limited”.
On its side, Iran has indicated it is not planning to retaliate and has downplayed the attack.
