U.S. forces, supported by destroyers from U.S. European Command, destroyed more than 80 one-way attack drones and at least six ballistic missiles that were targeting Israel from Iran and Yemen on Saturday and Sunday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on its website on Monday.

This includes one ballistic missile on a launch vehicle and seven drones that were destroyed on the ground before launch in areas controlled by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, it said.

Iran launched an attack late Saturday on Israeli-occupied territories with drones and missiles in response to a suspected Israeli airstrike on its embassy compound in Syria on April 1 that killed senior Revolutionary Guard commanders.

The attack of more than 300 missiles and drones, most of which were launched from inside Iran, caused only modest damage as Israel’s Iron Dome defense system shot down most of them with help from the United States, Britain, France and Jordan.

“U.S. Central Command remains postured to support Israel’s defense against these dangerous Iranian actions,” the U.S. military said. “We will continue to work with all our regional partners to enhance regional security.”
