14 people, including soldiers, were killed and others injured in a horrific traffic accident on Sunday between two vehicles, one of them military, which led to their complete burning, on the desert road linking Marib and Al-Jawf.
Local sources explained that the traffic accident occurred between a military vehicle while the other is a passengers vehicle (Hilux), in the unpaved desert of Al-Jawf.
The sources indicated that the collision caused the two vehicles to burn, which led to the charring of 14 people and many of injuries.
The sources said that “most of the soldier victims are from Lahj governorate who are affiliated with the sixth military region in Al-Jawf and were traveling to spend the Eid holiday with their families.”
On February 22, member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Marib, Major General Sultan Al-Arada, and with him the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sagheer Bin Aziz, moved to a number of sites and the asphalt road linking Marib and Sana’a, and announced from there the opening of the road linking Marib and Sana’a, via “Fardha Nahm”, from one side, demanding “the other party to take a similar step to facilitate the movement of citizens.”
Al-Arada said: “In consultation with the political and military leadership, a security checkpoint was established today on the road linking (Marib-Sana’a) via Al-Fardha, hoping that the other party would take a similar step to facilitate the movement of citizens,” .He stressed the importance of opening all roads, in all cities, including the roads leading to the city of Taiz.
The Houthi group deliberately evaded again, as it announced a different initiative to open another road passing from Marib to Sana’a via “Sirwah”, which is an unsuitable road and far in terms of distance, in light of the disregard for the suffering of citizens.
The same happened in Taiz, as the governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan with the head of the presidential committee for roads opening, launched an initiative to open the main Sana’a-Taiz road, via Aqabat (Manif-Al-Houbban), from one side, calling on Houthis to open the road from their side; Instead, in a roundabout way, the Houthis announced that they had opened a number of other roads.
