Ambrey: Targeting a cargo ship off the coast of Yemen

Yemen Monitor/News Room

The British maritime security company Ambrey said on Saturday that it had received information about a ship being targeted approximately 61 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah in Yemen.

At the same time, Reuters quoted the European Union’s naval mission in the southern Red Sea, Operation Atalanta, as intercepting a missile launched from Houthi-controlled areas on Saturday. The missile did not cause any damage to sailors or commercial ships.

Operation Atalanta began its duties in the Red Sea in February, following nearly four months of Houthi attacks on Israeli and US and British vessels.

Since last November, the Houthis have continued their attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, while the United States and Britain have carried out attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen, and have re-listed the group as a terrorist organization due to their attacks on commercial ships.
