Yemeni Meteorology predicts heavy thunderstorms in several provinces

The National Meteorological Center predicted today, Sunday, heavy thunderstorms in several provinces in the coming hours.

According to the weather bulletin, surface and upper-level maps, satellite images at the National Meteorological Center, along with early warning systems and monitoring of the outputs of local and global numerical models, indicate an unstable weather condition.

It is expected that heavy thunderstorms will occur in parts of the provinces of Saada, Amran, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Sanaa, Dhamar, Raymah, Al Jawf, Marib, Shabwah, accompanied by hail.

Additionally, varying intensity rain showers accompanied by thunder are expected in parts of the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale, and the highlands of Abyan, Lahij, and the highlands adjacent to the Tihama Plain, extending eastward to include parts of the inland plateaus and deserts.

It is also expected that scattered showers will fall on parts of the southern, eastern, and western coasts and the adjacent inland regions.

The report also mentioned very strong winds in parts of Bab el Mandeb strait, the Gulf of Aden, and the western coasts.

Citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall were warned to take precautions, avoid being in flood pathways and valleys during and after rainfall.

Drivers on mountain roads were advised not to cross ground bridges when floods are flowing and due to the noticeable decrease in horizontal visibility caused by fog or mist. Fishermen and sea-goers in Bab el Mandeb, Gulf of Aden, and western coasts were urged to be cautious of turbulent seas and waves rising up to 5 meters.
