The Houthi armed group announced on Saturday the issuance of a new 100 riyal coin as part of efforts to solve the problem of damaged currency.
The announcement was made at a press conference held by the governor of the Houthi-controlled central bank in Sana’a.
The governor stated that the new 100 riyal coin was issued to combat the problem of damaged currency, adding that it was minted in accordance with the latest international standards.
He stressed that the introduction of the new coin would not affect exchange rates as it is a replacement for damaged currency. The 100 riyal coin will begin circulating on Sunday.
