Early on Friday, the US Central Command stated that it intercepted four unmanned drones launched by the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen, targeting an American warship and another ship belonging to the “Guardians of Prosperity” coalition led by Washington in the Red Sea, prompting self-defense measures.
CENTCOM also reported that there were no injuries or damages to the American ships or coalition forces.
On Thursday, the Houthis announced targeting 86 Israeli, American, and British ships since they began their operations in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea in November last year.
Since November, the Houthis have continued their attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, while the US and UK have launched attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen and re-listed the group as a terrorist organization due to their attacks against commercial ships.
