Violent explosions rock Sanaa following American airstrikes
Yemen Monitor / Sanaa / Exclusive
Violent explosions shook the Yemeni capital of Sanaa on Friday evening following airstrikes carried out by American fighter jets in response to the continued attacks by the group against commercial ships in the Red Sea.
Local residents in the capital of Sanaa reported hearing the sound of violent explosions throughout the city accompanied by intense air traffic in the skies.
Media affiliated with the Houthis only mentioned “American British bombing of Sanaa” without providing further details.
Yesterday, Thursday, the US military stated that it had destroyed two anti-ship ballistic missiles and a drone launched by the Houthis from Yemen.
In the same context, Silit Walander, the US Deputy Minister of Defense, confirmed yesterday that the Houthis have carried out at least 50 attacks on ships off the coast of Yemen since the autumn.
Since last November, the Houthis have continued their attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. In return, the United States and Britain have targeted Houthi objectives in Yemen and have relisted the group as a terrorist organization due to their attacks on commercial ships.
