Yemeni Government: Houthi Militia’s Blowing Up of Civilians’ Homes in Rada’ Resembles Israeli Occupation’s Crimes in Gaza
Yemen Monitor/News Room
The Yemeni government condemned ,on Tuesday, the Houthi militia’s blowing up of homes of citizens in the city of Rada’ in the province of Al-Bayda, describing the incident as “a crime that brings to mind the scenes of the Israeli occupation’s bombing of Palestinian homes in Gaza Strip.”
The Yemeni Minister of Information, Moammar Al-Eryani, said in a statement, “The militia sent a campaign from Sana’a to blow up the homes of “Aal-Naqous and Al-Zaylai” families in “Al-Hufarah” neighborhood in the city of “Rada’a” province of Al-Bayda, which led to the destruction of a number of neighboring houses and collapse on the heads of their inhabitants, including women and children, 20 of whom are still under the rubble.”
He added that the militia has escalated its crimes and violations against civilians, including killing, displacement, and blowing up of homes, and has attacked villages and districts in various areas under its control by force, in an imitation of the practices of the Israeli occupation, and an extension of the series of deep-rooted terrorism that it has been practicing since the coup, according to him.
Al-Eryani said that “the Houthi militia has adopted the policy of blowing up homes and forcibly displacing their inhabitants as a method and approach to terrorizing citizens and taking revenge against those who oppose its coup project. Human rights organizations have documented its blowing up of 900 homes of the state leaders, the army, security, politicians, media, sheikhs, and citizens, to reveal its true face as a terrorist organization, and to confirm that it is a tool for killing and destruction, and cannot be a real partner in building peace.”
The Yemeni Minister of Information called on the international community, the United Nations, its Special Envoy, and human rights organizations to “strongly condemn this heinous crime, which falls within the policies of forced displacement of civilians, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.”
Earlier, local sources said that the Houthi militia in Al-Bayda summoned special forces from Sana’a and besieged the homes of” Aal-Naqous and Al-Zaylai” families in “Al-Hufarah” neighborhood Rada’a down town at dawn today (Tuesday). Till now there are reports of about 20 people under the rubble.
Yemeni activists circulated scenes of the bombing operations on social media and the subsequent rescue operations from under the rubble, amid reports of casualties, the number of which was not immediately revealed.
The Houthi militia acknowledged the incident, attributing it to a mistake by some members of the militia while carrying out a security campaign to pursue citizens. It said that it has formed a committee to investigate and compensate the victims.
This happened due to the backdrop of a young man from the Al-Zaylai family setting up an ambush last night for one of the Houthi crews in the middle of Rada’ city, killing the brother of the Houthi security supervisor, Abu Hussein Al-Harman, and two others who were with him on board the vehicle , while two others were injured. This was in retaliation for the killing of his brother about a year ago by the bodyguards of the Houthi supervisor “Al-Harman” in “Arib” Qat market in Rada’a.
