The US military reported destruction of five unmanned boats launched by the Houthis towards the Red Sea

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Saturday that it intercepted three drones and five unmanned boats launched by the Houthis towards the Red Sea.

CENTCOM said in a statement through “X”: “On March 16, between 7:50 AM and 8:15 AM (Sanaa time), the Houthis launched two drones from areas under their control towards the Red Sea.”

CENTCOM also noted that it intercepted five unmanned boats on Saturday as well saying: “Between 9 PM and 10:30 PM (Sanaa time), CENTCOM destroyed five surface drones and one unmanned aerial vehicle in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen in self-defense.”

The statement concluded by saying, “These weapons are considered an imminent threat to commercial vessels and US Navy ships in the region. These measures are taken to protect the freedom of navigation and make international waters more safe and secure for the US Navy and commercial ships.”
