US military says Houthis fired missile at warship in the Red Sea

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday morning that the Houthis fired a ballistic missile at a US destroyer in the Red Sea without hitting it, while another two drones launched by the group were shot down.
CENTCOM said that the Houthis fired “a short-range ballistic missile from areas they control in Yemen towards the USS Lapon in the Red Sea” on Tuesday.
It added in a statement on “X” that “the missile did not hit the destroyer, and no injuries or damage were reported.”
According to CENTCOM, “the US Central Command and a coalition ship were able to shoot down two drones launched from areas controlled by the Houthis.”
Until 6:40 AM UTC, the Houthis have not commented on the CENTCOM announcement
