The World Food Program (WFP) warned on Sunday that conflicts in Sudan, Yemen, Syria, and Gaza are igniting the fuse of hunger.
This came in a post by the WFP, a part of UN agency, on its account on X platform.
The program added that “conflict is one of the main reasons that push many people to the brink of hunger.”
It stressed that “the conflicts in Sudan, Yemen, Syria, and Gaza are igniting the fuse of hunger.”
The UN program pointed out that “peace and food security are related to each other, and each depends on the other.”
The program added that, “Where there is conflict, there is hunger and the opposit is true.
Yemen’s civil war, raging since 2014, has created the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. Millions are on the brink of starvation, with limited access to food, water, and healthcare.
While conflict is a major driver of hunger, other factors like poverty, climate change, and population growth contribute to the crisis. War destroys infrastructure, disrupts livelihoods, and diverts resources away from food production.
