The Houthi rebel group announced on Tuesday that it had carried out a “qualitative military operation” targeting two US destroyers in the Red Sea.
In a statement, the group said that it “carried out a qualitative military operation targeting two US destroyers in the Red Sea with a number of naval missiles and drones.”
The group also said that it “will not hesitate to expand its operations in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden until the aggression stops and the blockade on the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip is stopped.”
Earlier, Houthi-affiliated media reported that US and British warplanes had carried out at least five airstrikes on the province of Hodeidah.
The US Central Command had earlier reported that one of two anti-ship ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis hit the Swiss-owned container ship MV MSC Sky II in the Gulf of Aden, causing “damage.”
