Yemen Monitor-Hodeidah:
U.S. fighter jets struck Houthi rebel sites in Yemen for a sixth time Friday, taking out anti-ship missile launchers that were prepared to fire, according to a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss ongoing military operations, the White House said.
“US-UK aggression targets Al-Jabana area in Hodeidah city with two airstrikes,” the Houthi-run Al-Masirah channel said in a brief statement.
It marks the sixth US-led action against the Houthis in Yemen since operations began on January 11.
“This morning, U.S. forces conducted three successful self-defense strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen. This is the fourth preemptive action that the U.S. military has taken in the past week against Houthi missile launchers that were ready to launch attacks — -in this case, anti-ship missiles.” Said National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby.
The strikes come a day after President Joe Biden said that the U.S. military actions were not deterring the Houthis from attacks in the region, but that he would continue ordering the airstrikes.
