Trump Forces Houthis to Acknowledge Dozens Killed and Injured in Western Yemen

Yemen Monitor / Sana’a / Exclusive:

The Houthi armed group on Saturday admitted that dozens of its fighters were killed and injured in a U.S. airstrike in western Yemen, just hours after former U.S. President Donald Trump published a video showing the airstrike.

This rare acknowledgment highlights the extent to which the group conceals its human losses from US strikes, which have now approached 360 air raids since March 15, according to the monitoring unit at Yemen Monitor.

Houthi media claimed that “the video posted by Trump, allegedly showing a gathering of military commanders, was in fact a social Eid celebration in Al-Hodeidah Governorate.”

Quoting group officials, the media reported that the airstrike caused dozens of deaths and injuries among what they described as “civilians,” denying any connection between the gathering and the attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.

The Yemeni government had previously stated that the airstrike targeted Houthi fighters in Al-Tuhayta District, south of the city of Al-Hodeidah, located along the front lines of the conflict between both sides—lines that were frozen under the 2018 Stockholm Agreement.
