Houthis Claim Clash with U.S. Aircraft Carrier in the Red Sea

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The armed Houthi group claimed on Friday that it had targeted the U.S. aircraft carrier Truman in the Red Sea during a clash that lasted for hours.

In a press statement, the group’s military spokesperson said that US warships in the Red Sea were targeted with several cruise missiles.

He also claimed that the group’s forces thwarted two aerial attacks that the U.S. military was preparing to launch against Houthi positions.

The U.S. military has not commented on the Houthis’ claims.

Earlier, Houthi-affiliated media reported that US airstrikes targeted two areas in Saada, northern Yemen, while Israeli media reported that U.S. air defenses intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before it reached “Israel.”

On Thursday, Houthi media stated that US warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on the provinces of Saada, Hodeidah, and Sana’a.

According to these sources, the airstrikes targeted the east and southeast of Saada city with 17 raids in two waves.

Late Thursday evening, Israel’s public broadcaster reported that U.S. air defenses had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before it reached “Israel.”

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on March 15 that he had ordered his forces to launch a “major attack” against the Houthi group in Yemen, later threatening to “completely eliminate the Houthis.”
