Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, received on Tuesday the National Commission to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations, headed by Judge Ahmed Saeed Al-Muflihi, who presented a copy of the Commission’s twelfth annual report.

President Al-Alimi praised the efforts made by the Commission in documenting violations in various governorates of Yemen, affirming the Council and government’s commitment to providing the necessary support for the Commission to carry out its tasks.

Al-Alimi stressed the importance of strengthening human rights, security, and judicial institutions to ensure respect for human rights and the application of the rule of law in the country.

President Al-Alimi also expressed his confidence in the Commission’s ability to take the necessary measures, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to monitor and document all violations against civilians.

He pointed out the necessity of reducing cases of impunity, especially regarding violence against women, children, journalists, and human rights activists.

In this context, President Al-Alimi directed the government and relevant authorities to facilitate the work of the Commission and provide the necessary support to its monitors, stressing the need to deal responsibly with its reports as the nationally and internationally agreed mechanism for conducting professional and impartial investigations.

The report, which was submitted to the President, gave a comprehensive picture of the violations monitored during the period from August 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024, where 3,055 cases of violations of various types of rights were documented, resulting in 13,028 victims.

The report also included monitoring 694 cases of killing and injury, in addition to 126 cases of child recruitment, as well as many violations related to attacks on cultural property, medical facilities, forced displacement, and arbitrary detention.

The Commission clarified that the total violations documented since January 2016 until now have reached 29,701 incidents, resulting in the death of 63,772 victims, stressing that violations continue in various areas.
