The Central Bank Of Yemen Confirms Receiving Requests From Sana’a Banks To Relocate To Aden

The Central Bank of Yemen in the temporary capital Aden announced on Friday that it had received reports from commercial banks in Houthi-controlled Sana’a requesting to relocate their headquarters and operations to the city of Aden, the country’s temporary capital, following the U.S.s’ designation of the Houthis as a terrorist organization.

The Central Bank of Yemen welcomed the move by commercial banks in Sana’a to transfer their headquarters and operations to Aden.

The bank affirmed its readiness to work with all international and regional financial and humanitarian institutions and cooperate with them to safeguard Yemen’s banking system and enable them to carry out their activities and tasks without obstacles.

The Central Bank urges all banks, financial institutions, and economic entities to handle the situation with utmost responsibility and caution to protect citizens’ assets, ensure the continuity of services, and avoid any consequences.
