Washington Imposes Ban on Importing Petroleum Products via Hodeidah

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The U.S. has announced a ban on importing petroleum products through the Port of Hodeidah, effective April 2, 2025.
This decision follows the designation of the Houthi group as a foreign terrorist organization and the imposition of sanctions on its leaders.
According to a document issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), previous permits allowing the unloading of refined petroleum products in Yemen will expire on April 4, 2025.
This decision effectively restricts the flow of fuel to Houthi-controlled areas.
Additionally, the measure prohibits the commercial resale or export of petroleum products from Yemen, as well as financial transactions related to these products.
