Yemen Discusses Supporting Economic Recovery Plan with EU Ambassadors

Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak discussed with the Head of the EU Delegation to Yemen, Gabriel Vinals, and the ambassadors of EU member states accredited to Yemen, ways to enhance joint efforts to support the Yemeni government’s economic recovery plan.
During the meeting held today in the temporary capital, Aden, national developments on various levels were discussed, particularly economic aspects, and efforts to reallocate European support to priority areas in Yemen.
European positions supporting Yemen in facing economic challenges were also reviewed, including enhancing the stability of the national currency and alleviating the humanitarian suffering exacerbated by Houthi attacks on oil export facilities and international shipping.
The discussion also touched on the EU’s role in supporting the comprehensive reform process being implemented by the Yemeni government with the assistance of the Presidential Council, in addition to supporting the Coast Guard forces to combat smuggling and secure maritime routes.
The Prime Minister pointed out the importance of EU support in implementing reforms, enhancing transparency, and combating corruption, stressing the government’s strong will to move forward with the economic recovery plan despite the challenges.
European ambassadors reiterated their support for Yemeni efforts to implement reforms and provide humanitarian assistance, stressing the importance of joint work to support the Yemeni government’s economic plan.
