Fox News: Houthis Fire Surface-to-Air Missiles at U.S. Fighter Jet for the First Time

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Fox News quoted senior Pentagon officials as saying that the armed Houthi group fired surface-to-air missiles (SAM) at a U.S. F-16 fighter jet for the first time on February 19.

Officials told the network that the plane was flying off the coast of Yemen over the Red Sea when  the missile was launched and did not hit the plane.

The Houthis also fired other missiles of SAM type at a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone that the U.S. was flying over Yemen outside of Houthi-controlled areas on February 19.

They reported that this is the first time the Houthis have fired a SAM missiles at a U.S. F-16 fighter jet, a significant escalation in the ongoing military interactions between the Iranian-backed group and the U.S. Navy and Air Force.
