Investigation Committee into the Death of Prisoner Al-Huttam in Marib: The Reason is Suicide

The investigation committee into the death of prisoner Rashid Alawi Issa Al-Huttam in the Political Security Prison in Marib Governorate confirmed that the incident was a suicide and there is no suspicion of breach or violation of the governing laws.

The report issued by the committee formed by Major General Sultan Al-Arada, the governor of Marib, stated that the cause of death was suffocation resulting from hanging, without any signs of torture or other injuries.

The committee also confirmed that the investigation was conducted in a transparent and objective manner in the presence of representatives from various security agencies, sheikhs of Qifa, and representatives of the deceased’s relatives.

The report also indicated that no cases of ill-treatment or torture were recorded against Al-Huttam during his detention period, which was agreed upon by the deceased’s relatives who participated in the investigation.

Some prisoners close to Al-Huttam said that he suffered from psychological disorders and stayed up all night.

Al-Huttam died inside a prison in the city of Marib after being arrested for appearing in a video clip chanting the slogan belonging to the Houthi group.
