(Agency) – Senior Saudi Leader in al-Qaeda Killed in US Airstrike in Eastern Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

A senior Saudi leader in the al-Qaeda terrorist organization was killed in an airstrike believed to be American, targeting Shabwa Governorate in southeastern Yemen.

The Russian “Ria Novosti” agency quoted a source as saying that the leader, known as “Abu Muhammad al-Hadhli al-Makki,” was killed on Wednesday in an airstrike carried out by a US drone. The strike targeted al-Qaeda stronghold in al-Maseena area of al-Saeed district, south of Ataq city, the center of Shabwa Governorate.

The source added that al-Makki was targeted after the death of the organization’s war commander, “Abu Ali al-Deesi,” who was the emir of the Qifa region, in a US airstrike in Shabwa Governorate.

The US airstrikes come days after the death of al-Qaeda member named “Abu Yusuf al-Muhammadi,” who was killed by a roadside bomb in al-Samada area of al-Wadi district, east of Marib city in northeastern Yemen.
