Yemen Monitor/Washington:
The US Navy has announced that the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier has departed the Red Sea and is currently docked off the coast of Greece for a working visit.
This comes after two months of combat operations in the US Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility, which were primarily focused on countering Houthi attacks from Yemen.
“I am incredibly proud of this team’s dedication, service, and tireless around-the-clock work,” said Capt. Dave Snowden, commanding officer of the Truman. “Their efforts keep our ship operating at peak performance and our aircraft ready to support combat operations.”
The Harry Truman entered the CENTCOM area of responsibility on December 14th to support the US campaign to deter the Iranian-backed Houthis, who have been attacking military and commercial vessels since the start of the war on Gaza in 2023.
Last week, the US military and the Somali government conducted airstrikes against ISIS in Somalia.
