Security forces in the Somali state of Puntland said on Tuesday that they had seized a boat carrying military equipment suspected of coming from Yemen, at a time when the country is waging a military campaign against groups it calls “terrorist.”
A statement issued by the Puntland Counter-Terrorism Command stated: “The security forces in the Bari region were able to seize a boat carrying military uniforms and other military equipment.”
Somali media reported that the counter-terrorism unit arrested “the boat and its men, all of whom are Somalis, were arrested off the coast in the Qaw area of the Bossaso region.
The Bari region, especially “Kalmesad Mountains,” is witnessing clashes between Somali army forces and the Islamic State organization, and the authorities in Puntland say they are achieving great success in the operation.
